BarCamp NOLA 2009 (Day 1)

If you don’t think that New Orleans has a strong technology presence, you are sadly mistaken.  At the first day of BarCamp NOLA, technology lovers from around the city got to share topics that ranged from Intro to Ruby, Real Estate Tech, and SMS Mobile Marketing.

A group of about 50 packed the spaces at LaunchPad NOLA to do a short icebreaker introduction and the presenters signed up for their time slots on huge board.  While it was free flowing and flexible everything ran smoothly and I got to hear some great presentation, gain new knowledge, and talk to tech heads like myself.  What’s even funnier is that I got a chance to meet some of my Twitter friends in real life.

During Day # 2 (The Official #bangitout day) we are going to working on a group project for the recovery school district.  Again in true BarCamp style fashion, the specifics of the project will be decided the morning we get there.
